Nancy Lee Dixon Cochran, age 78, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, in Atlanta, GA.
On August 1, 1945, Nancy was born to the late Albert Leonard Dixon and the late Nell Batey Dixon of Dublin, GA. She is survived by her husband Tony Griss of Myrtle Beach, SC; her daughter Cherie Gray Oerting (Dan) of Marietta, GA; a sister, Patsy Dixon Foberg (Ken) of Charleston, SC; a nephew, Will LaRoche (Kristy) of Moxee, WA; and an aunt, Doris Batey Dollar of Dublin.
Nancy was a proud 1963 graduate of Dublin High School and had many lifelong friends from Dublin. She attended the Women’s College of Georgia and the University of Georgia.
Her career was as diverse as it was impactful. Nancy initially worked for the City of Austell, GA. Later, she found her calling in helping others while working at the Dublinair Nursing Home in Dublin, GA. Eventually, Nancy embraced entrepreneurship and became a self-employed Electrologist/Reflexologist in Atlanta, GA. Her work was not only her vocation but also her passion, as she helped countless individuals feel their best.
Nancy was a woman whose life was characterized by her loving nature, her friendly demeanor and her boundless creativity. Her presence was a source of joy, excitement, and laughter. She had an innate ability to light up a room and make everyone she met feel valued and loved. Her sweet, kind and nurturing spirit earned her a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her warmth and companionship.
Nancy’s creative soul found joy in jewelry making, painting, and decorating. Her artworks were not just mere pieces of beauty but expressions of her inner world, which she generously shared with friends and family. Her creative pursuits were a testament to her ability to see beauty in the mundane and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her as a woman who lived her life with love and laughter at the forefront. She was a friend to many, a mentor to some, and a source of inspiration to all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM in Dublin Memorial Gardens.
